Thank you for using the Theological University’s education system!

Theology University offers products and services provided by our international branches, including our affiliates (collectively, “Theology University,” “us,” “we,” or “our”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of our website, applications, and other products and services (“Services”). Because some of our Services may be software downloaded to your computer, phone, tablet, or other device, you acknowledge that we may automatically update this software and that these Terms will apply to such updates. Please read these Terms carefully and contact us if you have any questions, requests for information, or complaints. By clicking “I agree” (or by using our Services for those who have not yet created an account), you agree to be bound by these Terms, including the policies referenced in these Terms. By using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms, including the policies referenced in these Terms.

THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS CONSTITUTE AN ARBITRATION AGREEMENT AND CLASS-LAW WAIVER APPLICABLE TO ALL CLAIMS AGAINST THE UNIVERSITY OF THEOLOGY. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY; THEY AFFECT YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS. THE TERMS OF THE ARBITRATION AGREEMENT AND CLASS-LAW WAIVER WILL NOT BE VALID IF THEY ARE UNENFORCED UNDER THE LAWS OF YOUR COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE.

1. Use of Theological University Services

Who can use our services?  Use or access by anyone under the age of 18 is strictly prohibited.

Furthermore, you may only use our Services under the following circumstances:

  • , can enter into a binding agreement with the Theological University;
  • {You agree to comply with these Terms, all applicable laws and our policies (including the Acceptable Use Policy, Code of Honor, course-specific eligibility requirements and other policies that may apply from time to time (“Policies”)); and
  • If you are above the age at which you can consent to data processing under the laws of your country. Some regions and Content Offerings may have additional requirements and/or different age restrictions.

Any breach of our Terms, applicable laws, or Policies may result in suspension, disabling, or termination of your access to all or part of the Services.

When creating your Theological University account and subsequently using certain features, you are required to provide us with accurate and complete information, and you agree to allow us to update your information to keep it accurate and complete.

The License We Grant You Subject to these Terms and Policies, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use our Services. Unless you have obtained our written permission to the contrary, the rights granted herein are solely for your personal, non-commercial use. You also agree that you will only create, access, and/or use a user account and will not share access to your account or access information for your account with any third party, unless expressly permitted by Theological University. Your use of our Services does not grant you ownership or any intellectual property rights in our Services or the content you access.

Commercial Use

The commercial use of our services is strictly prohibited. Any commercial use must be subject to a separate agreement with Theological University, Inc. See our Corporate page for more information. If you are an organization already using our services, separate terms apply. These terms do not govern the relationship between your organization and Theological University.

2. Content Proposals

Changes to Content Offerings

Theological University offers courses and content (“Content Offerings”) from universities and other providers (“Content Providers”). Unforeseen events occur while we strive to provide first-class Content Offerings from our Content Providers. Theological University reserves the right to cancel, interrupt, reschedule, or modify any Content Offering, or to alter the point value or weighting of any assignment, exam, or other assessment, solely or in accordance with the Content Provider’s instructions. Content Offerings are subject to the following Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability sections.

No Academic Credit Awarded: The Theological University does not award academic credit for completing Content Proposals. Unless expressly stated otherwise by the lending institution, participation in or completion of a Content Proposal does not confer any academic credit. Even if credit is awarded by one institution, there is no presumption that other institutions will accept that credit. You acknowledge that you will not accept credit for completing the Content Proposal unless you have earned a course certificate or other equivalent document demonstrating your completion of the Content Proposal. The Theological University, instructors, and relevant Content Providers have no obligation whatsoever to have the Content Proposals recognized by any educational institution or accreditation body.

Student-Content Provider Relationship Disclaimer Except as described in the Degree, Master and University Certificate Programs section below, nothing in these Terms or in relation to your participation in Content Providers’ Content Offerings: (a) establishes any relationship between you and any Content Provider; (b) enrolls you in any Content Provider institution or in any Content Offering made by any Content Provider institution; or (c) grants you the right to use the resources of any Content Provider institution beyond participation in the Content Offering.

3. Your content

User Content

The Services allow you to share your content, such as submitted homework, quizzes, exams, projects, other assignments, forum posts, and similar content (“User Content”), with Theological University, instructors, and/or other users. You are solely responsible for all intellectual property rights to the User Content you create and share. User Content does not include course content or other materials offered or placed on the Theological University platform by or on behalf of Content Providers or instructors using the Services or Content Offerings. As is the case between Theological University and Content Providers, such Content Offerings are subject to the relevant agreements in effect between Theological University and Content Providers.

How Theological University and Others May Use User Content To the extent that you provide User Content, you grant Theological University a fully transferable, royalty-free, perpetual, sublicensable, non-exclusive, worldwide license. Under this license, Theological University has the right to copy, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, publicly showcase, and otherwise use the User Content. This license includes granting Theological University the right to authorize Content Providers to use the User Content with their enrolled students, students on campus, or other students, independently of the Services. Nothing in these Terms shall restrict other legal rights that Theological University may have over the User Content, for example, under other licenses.

We reserve the right to remove or modify User Content for any reason, including User Content that we believe violates these Terms or other policies, including our Acceptable Use Policy and Code of Conduct.

Feedback

We welcome your suggestions, ideas, comments, and other feedback regarding the Services (“Feedback”). By submitting Feedback, you grant us the right to use the Feedback without any restrictions or compensation to you. By accepting your Feedback, Theological University does not waive its right to use similar or related Feedback previously known to Theological University, developed by our employees or contractors, or obtained from other sources.

4. Security

We value the security of our users. While we work to protect the security of your account and related information, Theology University cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will not bypass our security measures. Please inform us immediately by emailing info@seelsorgeakademi.com if your account is compromised or used without authorization in any way.

5. Third-Party Content

Through the Services, you will have access to and/or use content provided by instructors, other users, and/or other third parties, as well as links to third-party websites and services. Theological University cannot guarantee that such third-party content on the Services or elsewhere will be free from material that you may find objectionable or inappropriate, or from malware or other contaminants that could harm your computer, mobile device, or the files on it. Theological University disclaims all responsibility or liability for your access to or use of, or inability to access or use of, such third-party content.

6. Copyright and Trademark

Theology University respects the intellectual property rights of our users, Content Providers, and other third parties, and expects our users to do the same when using the Services. We have adopted and enforced the following Theology University Copyright and Trademark Policy in accordance with applicable laws, including the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

7. Educational Research

The Theological University is dedicated to advancing the science of learning and teaching, and records of your course attendance may be used for educational research. For the benefit of this research, you may be subject to changes in the Content Proposals. Research findings will generally be reported on an aggregate basis. Your personal identity will not be publicly disclosed in any research findings without your explicit consent.

8. Paid Services from the Theological University

The Theological University offers paid Services (e.g., course certificates for specific courses) for a fee. Unless otherwise stated, fees are quoted in local currency. It is your responsibility to pay all fees and applicable taxes charged by or for the Theological University in a timely manner through a payment mechanism associated with the applicable paid Services. We may collect fees using other collection mechanisms if your payment method fails or your account is overdue. Fees may vary depending on your location and other factors, and the Theological University reserves the right to change any fees at any time at its sole discretion. Any changes, updates, or adjustments will be effective immediately upon posting through the relevant Services. Refunds are available for paid Services as described in our Refund Policy below.

Degree, Master’s and University Certificate Programs

The Services may enable you to enroll in Degree, Master, and University Certificate programmes or similar programmes offered by our Content Providers on the Theological University platform. Our Content Providers serve as distance education providers for these programmes and set the admission, reimbursement, and graduation or completion policies and requirements. Nothing in these Terms shall restrict your applicability to any institutional policies (e.g., student code of conduct) created by our Content Provider in connection with these programmes. Such policies shall be supplementary to these Terms, and in the event of a conflict between such policies and these Terms, our Content Provider’s policies shall prevail.

Depending on the program, tuition and fee payments for these programs may be collected by the University of Theology or our Content Partners. If your payment method fails or your account is overdue, we or our Content Partners may collect tuition and fees using other collection mechanisms. Tuition and fees may vary depending on your location and other factors, and the University of Theology and its Content Partners reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to change any tuition and fees for future terms or equivalent payment periods. Refunds are possible for paid Services as described in our Refund Policy below. You are encouraged to research and evaluate whether the required tuition and fees for Content Offerings are in line with your professional and financial goals.

Professional licensing, certification, and job requirements for various professions can vary by state and country, and job requirements may differ depending on the employer. The Theological University does not guarantee licence, certification, or qualification for any profession or job based on your completion of the Content Offering at the Theological University. Before enrolling, it is advisable to research, understand, and comply with the applicable state and/or country in which you work or intend to work, and to investigate whether the Content Offering you intend to enroll in meets your academic and/or professional needs.

Modifying or Terminating Our Services We are constantly modifying and improving our Services. We may add or remove functions, features, or requirements, and we may suspend (to the extent permitted by applicable law) or completely discontinue some of our Services. Accordingly, Theological University may terminate your use of any Service for any reason. If your use of a paid Service is terminated, a refund may be issued under our Refund Policy. We may be unable to offer the Services to certain regions or countries for various reasons, including applicable export control requirements or internet access restrictions and government restrictions. Theological University, its Content Providers and instructors, contributors, sponsors, and other business partners, and their employees, contractors, and other representatives (“Theological University Parties”) bear no liability to you for such actions. You may stop using our Services at any time, but we will be sad to see you go.

10. Those who object

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES AND ALL CONTENT, INCLUDING THEM, ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. THE UNIVERSITY OF THEOLOGY SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND ARISING FROM COMMERCIAL TRANSACTIONS OR COMMERCIAL USE. THE UNIVERSITY OF THEOLOGY ALSO DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY RELATED TO YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF THE SERVICES OR ANY RELATED CONTENT. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT ANY ACCESS TO OR USE OF THE SERVICES OR SUCH CONTENT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THEOLOGY UNIVERSITY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM: (A) YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICES; (B) ANY CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF ANY PARTY OTHER THAN THE APPLICABLE TEOLOJI ÜNIVERSITESI PARTY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY DEFAMATORY, OFFENSIVE, OR ILLEGAL CONDUCT; OR (C) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, USE, OR ALTERATION OF YOUR CONTENT OR INFORMATION. IN NO EVENT SHALL THEOLOGY UNIVERSITY’S AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICES EXCEED TWENTY US DOLLARS ($20) OR THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF FEES RECEIVED BY THEOLOGY UNIVERSITESI FROM YOU FOR THE USE OF PAID SERVICES DURING THE PAST SIX MONTHS, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT THE DISCLAIMERS AND THE LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY SET FORTH IN THIS TERMS OF USE REFLECT A REASONABLE AND FAIR ALLOCATION OF RISK BETWEEN YOU AND THEOLOGY ÜNIVERSITESI, AND THAT THESE LIMITATIONS ARE AN ESSENTIAL BASIS TO THEOLOGY ÜNIVERSITESI’S ABILITY TO MAKE THE SERVICES AVAILABLE TO YOU ON AN ECONOMICALLY FEASIBLE BASIS.

YOU AGREE THAT ANY RIGHT TO SUE RELATING TO THE SERVICES MUST COMMENCE WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR AFTER THE RIGHT TO SUE ARISES. OTHERWISE, SUCH RIGHTS WILL BE PERMANENTLY BLOCKED.

12. Export Controls

You warrant that you are not located in, or normally reside in, any country that is subject to applicable U.S. laws and regulations that would prevent Theological University from providing you with access to the Services. Your location is determined by your physical location. The use of virtual private network services, IP routing services, or other similar services to circumvent these laws is strictly prohibited.

You warrant that your name is not on any government prohibited, rejected, unverified party, sanctions, embargo or exclusion list or related restricted party list with export controls (collectively, “Sanctions Lists”). If you are placed on any Sanctions List, you will immediately cease using the Services. You also warrant that you will not export, re-export or transfer the Services to an entity on any Sanctions List or use the Services in a manner that violates applicable laws.

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in these Terms, the Theological University may immediately and effectively terminate its other obligations to you should you breach its obligations under this section.

13. Compensation

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Theological University Parties from any and all claims, liabilities, expenses, and damages (to the extent attributable to you under applicable law) made by third parties in connection with: (a) your use or attempt to use the Services in violation of these Terms; (b) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party; or (c) User Content, including but not limited to claims of infringement or misuse of intellectual property or other proprietary rights.

14. Governing Law and Location

Except as noted below, the Services are administered by Theological University in Colorado. You agree that these Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, excluding international private law. In the event of any non-arbitrary dispute relating to these Terms, you and Theological University shall have the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the federal and state courts located in and serving Santa Clara County, Colorado, as the legal forum for such disputes.

While you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the Services are administered by the Theological University. You agree that these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by Dutch law, excluding international private law.

This section will not exclude you from mandatory consumer protections under the laws of the country to which we direct the Services and where you have your habitual residence.

15. Waiver of Binding Arbitration and Class Actions

You and Theological University agree to submit to binding arbitration any dispute, claim, or disagreement arising out of or in connection with our Services, these Terms, and/or any other relationship or dispute between you and us, whether prior, present, or future, based on bylaws, regulations, constitutions, common law, equity, or any other legal basis or theory, including but not limited to (i) the scope, enforceability, or enforceability of these Terms and/or this arbitration provision, and (ii) relationships with third parties not parties to these Terms or this arbitration provision (each a “Claim” and collectively the “Claims”) to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Any Claim will be submitted to binding arbitration in accordance with the AAA Accreditation Consumer Arbitration Rules (“AAA Rules”) in effect at the time the arbitration is initiated. The AAA Rules are available online and are incorporated herein by reference. In the event of any inconsistency between this arbitration provision and the AAA Rules, such inconsistency shall be resolved in favor of this provision. If you decide to initiate arbitration, you agree to pay the initiation fee of US$200 (or any amount required by the AAA Rules), and we agree to pay the remaining arbitration initiation fee and any additional deposit required by the AAA to initiate your arbitration. We will pay the costs of the arbitration proceedings, including arbitrator fees; however, other fees such as attorneys’ fees and travel expenses to arbitration will be paid in accordance with the AAA Rules and applicable law. We will pay all costs relating to any arbitration we initiate. A single, impartial arbitrator, selected in accordance with the AAA Rules, will decide on all Claims.

The arbitrator must be a good standing active member of the bar association of any state in the continental United States and have practiced law actively for at least five years, or be a retired judge. The arbitrator will respect claims of privilege recognized by law. Unless contrary to applicable law and unless otherwise specified herein, each party shall bear its own attorney, expert, and witness fees, regardless of which party prevails in the arbitration. Any arbitration proceedings shall be conducted in the federal jurisdiction in which you reside, and you shall be given the opportunity to participate in and be heard in the proceedings. The arbitrator’s decision shall be final and binding on the parties and may be enforced in any federal or state court with jurisdiction. You and we agree that the arbitration shall be kept confidential and that the existence and any element of the arbitration proceeding (including, but not limited to, any defense, summary, or other documents presented or exchanged, and any testimony or other oral presentations and decisions) shall not be disclosed outside of the arbitration proceedings, except in judicial proceedings relating to the arbitration or as legally required by applicable disclosure rules and regulations of government agencies.

Neither you nor the Theological University may act as a class representative or participate as a member of a class of claimants in relation to any Claim. Claims cannot be arbitrated on a class or representative basis. The arbitrator may only decide on your and/or the Theological University’s individual Claims. The arbitrator may not combine or join the claims of other persons or parties who may be in a similar situation. Accordingly, you and we agree that the AAA’s Supplementary Rules on Group Arbitrations do not apply to our arbitration. This arbitration provision and the procedures for arbitration provided for in this provision are governed by the Federal Arbitration Act, without regard to any applicable state law.

This arbitration agreement does not preclude you or us from pursuing legal action before federal, state, or local government agencies. You and we also have the right to pursue self-help avenues such as set-off or to pursue qualified claims in a small claims court, provided the matter remains in such a court and proceeds solely on an individual (non-classified, non-representative) basis. In addition, you and we reserve the right to seek provisional or ancillary measures, including pre-arbitration attachments or injunctive relief, before any competent court, and such a claim shall not be deemed inconsistent with any of these Terms or a waiver of the right to submit disputes to arbitration as set forth in this provision.

A court may sever any part of this Binding Arbitration and Class Action Waiver Section which it finds unenforceable, except for the prohibitions relating to addressing any Claim on a group or agent basis, and the remaining portions of this arbitration provision shall remain valid and enforceable. Any waiver of any provision of this Section shall not be effective or enforceable unless recorded in writing and signed by the party waiving such right or requirement. Such a waiver shall not constitute a waiver of or affect any other part of these Terms.

THIS BINDING ARBITRATION AND CLASS ACTION WAIVER SECTION LIMITS CERTAIN RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO INITIATE A COURT PROCEEDINGS, THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL, THE RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDINGS, AND THE RIGHT TO CONDUCT INSPECTIONS, EXCEPT AS SPECIFIED IN THE AAA RULES. OTHER RIGHTS THAT YOU OR THE UNIVERSITY OF THEOLOGY MAY HAVE IN COURT MAY ALSO BE EXISTING IN ARBITRATION.

16. General Terms

Changes to the Terms We reserve the right to revise the Terms at any time at our sole discretion. Any changes to the Terms will be effective immediately upon our posting. In the event of a significant change to the Terms, we will take reasonable steps to notify you of such changes via a header on the website, email notification, or another method or combination of methods. In any case, your continued use of the Services, with or without notification of such changes, constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms as binding.

Sustainability; Waiver

If any particular provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, this will not affect the other terms. Your failure to comply with these Terms and our failure to act promptly does not constitute a waiver of any rights we may have (such as the right to act in the future).

Content Providers Our content providers and integrated service providers are third-party beneficiaries of the Terms and may enforce the provisions of the Terms that apply to them.

Code of Conduct for the Theological University

The Theological University platform includes people from all over the world and from a wide variety of backgrounds, religions, and cultural norms. This diversity is one of the things that makes our community great, but it can also make communication challenging.

The purpose of our Theological University Code of Conduct is to ensure that the Theological University platform remains a warm, welcoming, and supportive place for all members, regardless of color, religion, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, sexual identity or expression, personal appearance, political affiliation, marital status, family responsibilities/parenthood, veteran status, education, disability, genetic information, and other legally protected classes. 

The Code of Conduct was developed in collaboration with community members, students, instructors, and administrators to gather input and ensure diverse perspectives are represented. These codes will continue to be refined to include all stakeholders in the development and implementation of fair online learning standards.

The Code of Conduct reflects the ethics and values ​​of the Theological University platform and community. To address and respond to ongoing data collection related to violence, cyberbullying, harassment, and intimidation, the codes will be reviewed annually by the Theological University community through a meeting of users, instructors, and administrators, and distributed annually to users via email and other media.

This is not intended to be a comprehensive list; rather, it is intended to be a guide for the kinds of interactions we would like to see on this platform. Ultimately, the Theological University team makes the final decision on whether behavior is acceptable.

Guidelines of the Theological University

These Code of Conduct applies to all forum posts and private messages published on the University of Theology websites, including https://ctu.edu.eu, seelsorgeakademi.com, the University of Theology Society, and all course discussion forums.

  • We expect all activity on the platform to comply with the Code of Conduct. Failure to comply with the Code of Conduct may result in your or your posts being removed from the Theological University.
  • The University of Theology and our partners may provide helpful information within the platform, but we cannot respond to every post. While peer responses are helpful and appreciated, they are not communications from the University of Theology or our partners.
  • You own the rights to all content you publish on the Theological University platform. Theological University is granted a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual license to use and commercialize any content you publish on the platform. By posting on the platform, you grant Theological University the right to use any content in the post without restriction or compensation.
  • The University of Theology is permitted to use any content you post on the Community, in other sections of seelsorgeakademi.com, on our social media channels, in our marketing materials, or in articles printed or published by third parties about the University of Theology. When you use your content in this way, the University of Theology will request permission before using your image or full name alongside any content you submit. In such cases of use, all rights to the final work will belong to the University of Theology.
  • Unless otherwise stated, all content published on the Theological University platform is publicly accessible and searchable online.
  • If you delete your Theology University account, your Community posts and private messages will be anonymized.

Your responsibilities as a user of Theology University

All users have the following responsibilities:

  1. Contribute to maintaining a safe, supportive, and orderly online learning environment that enables learning and fosters respect and dignity for others and their property.
  2. Learn about and comply with all Theological University policies, rules, and regulations regarding user behavior.
  3. Respond respectfully and positively to instructions given by instructors, administrators, and other Theological University staff.
  4. Keep your behavior free from all forms of bullying, harassment, and discrimination.
  5. Ask questions when they don’t understand.
  6. Seek help in resolving issues that may require disciplinary action.
  7. Accept responsibility for your actions.

Improper conduct

We want all Theological University users to have the best possible experience. To clarify what this means,  we have provided a list of examples of inappropriate behavior for Theological University users  :

  • Dangerous speech.  Any expression (e.g., speech, text, or images) that could increase the risk of an audience turning a blind eye to or using violence against members of another group. Key characteristics of dangerous speech: It is directed at groups, it incites fear, it is often false, and it is indirectly harmful. Dangerous speech may include: Coded language (familiar terms within the group).
  • Harassment or deliberate intimidation.  This includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public places, stalking, and/or deliberate threats.
  • Violence or threats of violence.  Violence and threats of violence are unacceptable, whether online or offline. This includes inciting violence against any individual, including encouraging someone to harm themselves. This also includes posting or threatening to post other people’s personal information online (doxxing).
  • Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, language against people with disabilities, or otherwise exclusionary language.  This includes deliberately referring to a person with a gender they do not identify with and/or questioning the legitimacy of a person’s gender identity. If you are unsure whether a word is derogatory, do not use it. This also includes repeated subtle and/or indirect discrimination.
  • Unwelcome sexual interest or behavior that contributes to a sexualized environment.  This includes sexualized comments, jokes, or imagery in interactions, communications, or presentation materials, as well as inappropriate sexual approaches.
  • Influencing or encouraging inappropriate behavior.  If you influence or encourage another person to violate the Code of Conduct, you may face the same consequences as if you had violated the Code of Conduct yourself.
  • The persistent interruption of online discussions, talks, or other events.  Persistent interruption of events, online discussions, or meetings, including talks and presentations, will not be tolerated. This includes ‘talking over’ or ‘contracting’ event speakers or influencing crowd actions in a way that causes hostility during event sessions. 
  • Misuse of the peer review system.  This includes impersonating another student to give yourself a positive peer review; secretly colluding with other users to give each other positive peer reviews; and posting discriminatory, violent, or otherwise abusive content in the peer review feedback area. See the Theological University Honor Rules above.
  • Retaliation.  It is not permissible to punish someone for engaging in protected behavior. This includes harassing, bullying, or falsely reporting against a user who has expressed genuine concerns about your behavior. Giving a user a bad peer review for an assignment simply because you didn’t like the review you received for your assignment is unacceptable.

Theological University users are requested to cease all inappropriate behavior and are expected to comply with these rules immediately. If you are the subject of an incident report or wish to report inappropriate behavior, your personal data will be processed by Theological University as described in these Code of Conduct. You consent to such processing.

Community Guides

Below are additional guidelines to keep in mind when interacting in forums such as Theology University Society or Course discussion forums.

Respect:
Remember that context can be lost when communicating via text and when one or more discussion participants use a language other than their native tongue. Try to ensure your communication is clear and not unintentionally offensive. Emojis can be used to add context but cannot compensate for a rude post.

  • Always treat everyone who uses or works for the Theological University with respect.
  • Never share anything that could upset or offend another person, including sexual images or descriptions, actual or implied violence, or profanity.
  • At the Theological University, never use language intended to attack, accuse, insult, harass, intimidate, pressure, humiliate, or abuse another person.

Sensitivity and Empathy:
The Theological University offers courses on many controversial or emotionally charged topics such as terrorism, mental health, religion, politics, etc. In our Global Community, discussing such things helps us learn more about the world and understand each other better. We expect discussions to be academic in nature, respectful, and open to all viewpoints.

  • Never use any language that might be insensitive or offensive to someone based on their gender, sexual identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or political opinion.

Problems, feedback, and criticism:
We welcome feedback that can be used to improve the Theological University experience.

  • Please use the appropriate channels to provide this type of feedback or report issues.
  • Simply avoid being negative; constructive criticism is valued, while unproductive negativity is disregarded.

This community is focused on learning, therefore it is expected that members will make mistakes, misunderstand things, or not fully grasp them. Feedback and criticism are an important part of learning, so please feel free to provide them when appropriate, keeping the following in mind:

  • Always criticize the work itself or the method, not the person behind it.
  • Never look down on anyone for not knowing or understanding something.
  • If you think it might be embarrassing for the recipient, please provide your feedback privately.
  • If someone responds negatively to feedback, don’t force them to give it; simply end the interaction.

Protect your privacy.
Avoid publicly sharing your own or others’ personal information online. Do not include any of the following in the body of a public post:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Address
  • Account numbers
  • Any other information that could be used to identify or harm you or others.

Resolving and Reporting Issues:
In such a diverse community, disagreements and misunderstandings are normal. Before assuming someone is offensive, ask for clarification and try to have a calm discussion. Do not lower your own standards of communication in response.

If this is not possible, report the post to our moderators by flagging it.

Posts that violate the Code of Conduct may be edited or deleted.

Possible consequences of violating the Code of Conduct

This list is not exhaustive, and the Theological University reserves the right to take any action it deems necessary. Possible responses to an event include:

  • If it is determined that the behavior did not violate the Code of Conduct, then nothing happens.
  • Verbal or email warning
  • Requiring the reported person not to send direct messages to an online community member.
  • To require the reported person not to participate in specific Community channels or discussion forums.
  • Do not publish videos or slides of speeches that violate the Code of Conduct.
  • The roles the reported individual holds, such as translator, mentor, and beta tester, shall be terminated immediately.
  • Requiring a person not to participate as a translator, mentor, and/or beta tester.
  • Requiring a person to immediately leave the Course, Community Channel and/or Kursera and not return.
  • Removal of the reported person from the community’s online chat servers or email lists (permanently or for a limited period)
  • The reported person will be removed from their administrator or moderator rights related to the community infrastructure.
  • Removal of the person from membership of the relevant institution

Enforcement of Code of Conduct

All reports to the Theological University will be taken seriously. Those who do not comply with the Code of Conduct in good faith may face consequences deemed appropriate by our team.  We will generally address misconduct in the following way: 

  1. Warning.  In most first-time abuse cases, our team will remove the offensive content and send a warning. Most issues are resolved here.
  2. Account suspension.  For repeated abuse or harassment, bigotry, or abusive behavior, our team will apply a temporary suspension. 
  3. Exclusion.  In very rare cases, our team will expel individuals who exhibit harmful, destructive behavior towards the Theological University community.

Reporting a Code of Conduct incident

We encourage Theology University users to report any violations of these Code of Conduct through this article. The report will be handled by the Theology University team, and the user who violated the Code of Conduct will be contacted directly. To report a Code of Conduct incident, please

contact our support team. In your report, please provide the following information: 

  • Connection to the crime scene
  • Screenshot of the violation and the text.
  • Written text of the abuse
  • User’s visible name

If you are exposed to a reported incident or wish to report inappropriate behavior, we will endeavor to protect the anonymity and privacy of all individuals involved. However, there may be times when the Theological University team may request permission to identify the individual(s) in order to conduct necessary correspondence to gather additional information in order to advocate for a fair process and resolution.

Acceptable Use Policy

Effective: January 1, 2024.

Our mission is to provide universal access to the world’s best education. We firmly believe in protecting freedom of speech and expression for our users, as well as academic freedom for our Content Providers and instructors. We also want to ensure that all our users and instructors feel safe and comfortable using our Services. We have drafted this policy to ensure that people understand and abide by the rules when joining our online community and using our Services.

We may remove or edit inappropriate content or activity that we identify or that is reported to us. We may also individually suspend, disable, or terminate a user’s access to all or part of the Services.

Sharing the following content while using our services is prohibited:

It contains illegal content or encourages illegal activities with the intent to engage in such activities. Please note that users must be 18 years of age or older to use Theological University, and we do not permit content unsuitable for these minor users. It contains credible threats or depicts real-world acts of violence. We do not permit content that poses a real risk of physical injury or property damage, credibly threatens people or public safety, or depicts or encourages harmful acts. It does not harass others. We encourage commenting on people and topics of public interest, but abusive or inappropriate content directed at private individuals is not permitted. It infringes intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other rights. Do not share content that you do not have the right to share, claim rights over content that does not belong to you, or otherwise infringe or misuse the intellectual property or other rights of another person. Always attribute any materials you use or quote to the original copyright holder. It does not spam others. Do not share irrelevant or inappropriate advertising, promotional, or solicitation content. Otherwise, the Theological University Terms of Use will be violated.

Please note that certain courses may have additional rules and requirements.

2. Also, you are not permitted to do this:

Do not do anything that violates local, state, national, or international laws, or breaches any of your contractual obligations or duties of trust. Do not share your password, allow anyone else to access your account, or do anything that could jeopardize your account. Do not attempt to access another user’s account. Do not reproduce, transmit, sell, resell, or otherwise misuse any content on our Services unless specifically permitted. Do not access, tamper with, or use non-public areas of our systems unless specifically permitted. Do not attempt to break or circumvent our authentication or security measures, or otherwise test for vulnerabilities in our systems or networks, unless specifically permitted. Do not attempt to reverse engineer any part of our Services. Do not attempt to interfere with any user, host, or network, for example, by sending a virus, overloading, spamming, or bombarding mail. Do not use our Services to distribute malware. Do not use our Services or any function of the Theological University platform for any purpose other than supplementing online courses or for pedagogical purposes. Do not impersonate any person or organization or misrepresent your relationship with them. Encourage or help everyone to do any of the things on this list.

3. You are also not permitted to do the following without our prior written permission:

  • Visiting or using our services for any content, data, or text scraping (including but not limited to screen scraping, web aggregation, or web data extraction) by manual, mechanical, or automated means, including the use of bots or other similar software.
  • To use any content, data, or text in the Services in any form for text or data mining purposes, or to develop or train any application, software, code, or data model, including but not limited to generative artificial intelligence or other AI and machine learning models, for commercial or non-commercial purposes.

Copyright and Trademark Policy

Effective from January 1, 2023.

Theological University respects the intellectual property rights of our Content Providers, instructors, users, and other third parties, and expects our users to do the same when using the Services. We reserve the right to suspend, disable, or terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe or are repeatedly accused of infringing the copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights of others.

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (“DMCA”) provides copyright holders with the right to file claims if they believe that material appearing on the internet infringes their rights under U.S. copyright law. If you would like to read the DMCA, please   visit the U.S. Copyright Office website at http://www.copyright.gov/legislation/dmca.pdf .

If you sincerely believe that materials on the Theological University platform infringe your copyright, the DMCA allows you (or your representative) to send us a notice requesting the removal of the material or the blocking of access to the material.

The notification must include the following information:

The physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to represent the alleged infringement; a description of the copyrighted work allegedly infringed (or a representative list of such works if multiple copyrighted works featured on the platform are covered by a single notification); a description of the material allegedly infringing or the subject of the infringing activity, and reasonably sufficient information to enable the Theological University to locate the material on the platform;

  • The complainant’s name, address, telephone number and email address (if any); a statement that the complainant believes in good faith that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or by law; and a statement that the information in the statement is true and, within the scope of penalties for perjury, that the complainant is authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right alleged to be infringed.

Notices must meet the legal requirements set forth by the DMCA and applicable at the time. Notices and counter-notices relating to the services may be sent in the following ways:

Theological University respects the trademark rights of others. Accounts containing content that misleads others or infringes on another’s trademark may be updated, suspended, disabled, or terminated by Theological University at its sole discretion. If we deem it appropriate, we may remove the offensive content, warn the person who posted the content, and/or temporarily or permanently suspend or disable the person’s account.

Payments and Returns Policy

Effective from January 1, 2023.

Please see the information below for details regarding our refund and cancellation policies. Please note that our policies may vary between offers and payment options may change. Also, please note that we take violations of our Terms of Use and Code of Honor very seriously and we are not obligated to refund users who violate these or other University of Theology policies, even if requests are made within the specified refund period. Similarly, we are not obligated to issue late refunds to users who fail to achieve a passing grade in a Content Offer or are otherwise dissatisfied with their final grades.

1. One-Time Purchases

General Returns

The Theological University does not offer reimbursement for payments made for guided projects.

Courses and Specializations

If you cancel your one-time fee registration for a Specialization Package, the University of Theology will offer you a full refund up to 14 days of payment or until you earn course certificates for any course in the Specialization Package (whichever comes first).

If you pre-register and pay for a course or specialization, the University of Theology will offer you a full refund up to 14 days after the course or specialization begins, or until you receive your certificate (whichever comes first).

Refunds for Certificates

Guided Projects: If you do not receive your completion certificate within 180 days of enrolling in a guided project, your enrollment will expire, and you will need to pay to re-enroll in the guided project to complete it and earn your completion certificate.

Lesson

To avoid any doubt, once you have received your course certificate along with your payment, you are not eligible for a refund, even if it is within 14 days. If you do not receive your course certificate within 180 days, your registration will expire, and you will need to pay to re-register for the course.

Specialization Package

Unless otherwise specified as part of the registration process, you have one year to complete the Specialization Package after purchasing it.

2. Monthly Specialty Subscriptions

General Returns

Theological University does not offer refunds for payments made on its monthly specialization subscription plans.

Refunds for Trials

To avoid being charged during the free trial period, you must cancel your subscription before your free trial ends. If you complete a course during the free trial period, the University of Theology reserves the right to require you to pay for a one-month subscription to obtain a course and/or specialization certificate.

Cancel

Your subscription will continue month-to-month unless you cancel it or the subscription is suspended or terminated by the University of Theology. If you cancel your subscription, the cancellation will take effect at the end of the current monthly period. You will continue to have access to your subscription for the remainder of this period, but you will not receive a refund. For subscriptions to individual specializations, the University of Theology will automatically terminate your subscription at the end of the monthly period in which you earn your certificate for the specialization.

3. Theological University Payments

General Returns

To receive a full refund for your Theology University Plus subscription payment, submit a refund request through the Student Help Center within 14 days of your payment. No refunds will be issued after this 14-day period.

Refunds for Trials

Some Theological University Plus subscriptions may include a free trial period instead of a refund period. If you do not cancel within the free trial period, you will be billed the full amount of your subscription and will not be eligible for a refund. If you complete a course within the free trial period, the Theological University reserves the right to request payment for one month’s subscription so that you can receive the course and/or specialization certificate.

Cancel

Your Theological University tuition fee will continue for the duration specified at the time of purchase, after which it will automatically renew unless you cancel your subscription or the subscription is suspended or terminated by Theological University. If you cancel your subscription after the refund period, you will retain access until the end of the subscription period and will not be billed for the next billing period.

4. Degree, Master’s and University Certificate Programs

Refund policies for Degree, Master’s, and University Certificate programs are determined and managed by the Content Provider offering the program. These refund policies will be communicated to students by the respective Content Providers.

5. Other Paid Services

Except as described in this Refund Policy or explicitly stated as part of the process of registering for a Service, the University of Theology has no obligation to provide refunds or vouchers for other Services.

The University of Theology reserves the right to issue refunds at its sole discretion. Please note that our policies differ between subscription payments and one-time payments for course, specialization, and guided project purchases, and payment options may vary from one offer to another. Also, please note that we take violations of our Terms of Use and Code of Honor very seriously, and we are not obligated to issue refunds to users who violate these or other University of Theology policies, even if requests are made within the specified refund period. Similarly, we are not obligated to issue late refunds to users who fail to achieve a passing grade in a Content Offer or are otherwise dissatisfied with their final grades.

Third-Party Marketplaces

Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions, if you purchase or subscribe to a course, specialization package, guided project, or any other paid Service through a third-party marketplace (e.g., through in-app purchases via the Apple App Store or purchases through certain alternative payment services), the refund policy applicable to that third-party marketplace shall apply, unless expressly stated otherwise by Theological University. Unless expressly stated otherwise by Theological University, the third-party marketplace shall be solely responsible for making refunds under its own refund policy, and Theological University shall have no obligation to make any refunds. Theological University disclaims all responsibility or liability whatsoever for the refund policy of any third-party marketplace or for the third party’s compliance with such policy.

7. Promotional Offers

From time to time we may offer special promotional offers or discounts (“Offers”). Offer eligibility is determined by the University of Theology in its sole discretion, and we reserve the right to cancel an Offer if we determine that you are not eligible. Users with an existing Offer may not be eligible for additional Offers. We may use information such as the payment method or the account email address used in a University of Theology purchase to determine Offer eligibility. Eligibility requirements and other limitations and conditions will be explained when you register for the Offer or in other communications provided to you.

8. Changes to Pricing and Subscription Plans

We reserve the right to modify our subscription plans or adjust the pricing of our service or any component thereof in any way and at any time at our sole discretion. Unless expressly stated otherwise in these Terms, any price changes or modifications to your subscription plan will take effect after you have been notified.

9. Right of Withdrawal for European Users

In addition to the refund policies mentioned above, if you have the right to withdraw under the relevant laws in your country, including applicable European Union laws, then:

  • You have a 14-day right of withdrawal. You may withdraw from your contract with the Theological University for services without giving any reason and without incurring any costs other than those specified in this clause.
  • The cancellation period will expire 14 days after the date your contract is signed. However, you do not have the right to withdraw if: a) the Services have been fully completed with your prior explicit consent and you agree that you will lose your right to withdraw once the Services have been completed by us; or b) the Services have commenced with your prior explicit consent and you agree that you will lose your right to withdraw once you begin using the Services.
  • To exercise your right to withdraw, you must notify us of your decision to withdraw in a clear statement (for example, by email or by contacting us). You may use the sample form below, but this is not mandatory.

If you send the communication before this deadline, you will be considered to have exercised your right of withdrawal within the 14-day period. Exercising the right of withdrawal will terminate the parties’ obligations to perform the contract. If you exercise your right of withdrawal, all ancillary agreements will be automatically terminated.
  • If you terminate this contract, we will refund you all payments received from you, including any delivery costs, without undue delay and in any case no later than 14 days from the date we become aware of your decision to terminate the contract under this clause. Unless you expressly agree otherwise, we will make this refund using the payment method you used for the initial transaction. In any case, you will not incur any charges as a result of such a refund.
  • If you wish for the services to commence within the 14-day withdrawal period, you must make an explicit request to this effect; hereby you acknowledge that you will lose your right to withdraw once the service has been fully performed. If you exercise your right to withdraw before the services have been fully performed, you will be obliged to reimburse us for reasonable costs, amounting to that provided up to the time you notified us of your exercise of the right to withdraw.
  • You bear the burden of proof that you have exercised your right of withdrawal in accordance with this clause. Except as stated in this clause, you do not incur any obligations as a result of exercising your right of withdrawal.

Moral Rules

Effective from June 28, 2023.

All users of learning materials hosted on the Theological University platform are expected to adhere to the following standards to ensure the integrity of learning in their Theological University learning experience. Students are  expected to know and comply with the Terms of Use for the Theological University platform  and any codes of conduct, academic policy, honors code, or institutional requirements relating to the programs a student enrolls in through the Theological University platform.

Academic misconduct weakens the credentials held by the Theological University and devalues ​​the genuine efforts of other students. Therefore, students engaging in misconduct are subject to the consequences described below.

Academic misconduct is defined as any activity that circumvents or attempts to circumvent the learning experience provided by a course through a violation of course learning policies or specific policies provided by the instructor or stated in the course syllabus, or through misrepresentation of course activity authorship or completion requirements. The following standards clarify the most common types of academic misconduct, but the list is not exhaustive. Other conduct may constitute academic misconduct in a particular course or across the Theological University platform.

Definitions

Studying at a Theological University event  – ​​All activities on the Theological University platform, including introductions and all course activities, are subject to these policies. Studies include, but are not limited to, exams, quizzes, peer assessment activities, evaluations, discussion board contributions, guided projects, and laboratories. Additionally, off-platform activities related to courses on the platform are also covered by these policies.

Unauthorized  – Activities that violate the Theological University’s Terms of Use, course or platform policies, illegal activities, or activities that violate the academic or integrity standards that a student on the Theological University platform is expected to know are considered unauthorized.

Violations

  1. Plagiarism : Plagiarism is copying or reproducing words, ideas, or other materials from another source without attributing them to the original author. Plagiarism also includes the practice of employing or allowing another person to alter or revise your work and then presenting the work as your own. Students may discuss assessments amongst themselves or with an instructor or teacher, but all assessment submissions must be original work done independently by the student. This includes work that has been rephrased, translated, or otherwise altered using automated tools. Plagiarism can also include self-plagiarism, where a student submits the same work they previously submitted for another assessment or module, and this is not disclosed or permitted.
  2. Use of Unauthorized Materials : The use or consultation of unauthorized materials (including, but not limited to, electronic materials and generative artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT or similar software or applications) or the use of unauthorized equipment or devices in any work within a Theological University event, unless expressly permitted.
  3. Unauthorized collaboration : Working with any person on any project within the scope of a Theological University event unless expressly permitted.
  4. Contract fraud : paying another person to attend a Theological University course or to work at a Theological University event, thereby engaging in trade or otherwise creating employment for them.
  5. Impersonation : completing work on any Theological University activity (including but not limited to exams, assessments, and learning activities) while logged in as another user, or enabling another user to complete work on a Theological University activity while logged in as you; otherwise, misrepresenting the authorship of work submitted to the Theological University.
  6. Unauthorized sharing of resources : making any information or solutions related to homework, quizzes, exams, projects, and other assessments available to others (except where an assessment explicitly permits the sharing of solutions). This includes solutions provided by you, other students, external sources, or course staff or anyone else.
  7. Fraud : making false statements, unless otherwise stated, about the circumstances under which authorship or work within the scope of a Theological University activity was carried out, or falsifying any evidence to support any claim of mitigating circumstances.
  8. Other : Other conduct that gives you or another person an unfair advantage, or any activity that attempts to dishonestly improve your results or improve or harm the results of others in the context of a Theological University event.

Results for Non-Degree Multiplications

The Theological University will determine the appropriate sanctions based on the type of abuse, the severity of the behavior, the risk of the assessment, and the user’s previous history of abuse.

No refunds will be issued in the event of any corrective action for such violations   . Violations of the Code of Honor will be determined entirely at the discretion of the Theological University and its associates. If a violation of these Code of Honor is found, you will be notified and informed of the action that will be taken as a result of the violation.

Results for Degree Products

For Degree, Master’s and University Certificate Programs, results are entirely at the discretion of the content provider.

Use of Unauthorized Materials:  The use or consultation of unauthorized materials (including but not limited to electronic materials and generative artificial intelligence tools, such as ChatGPT or similar software or applications) or the use of unauthorized equipment or devices in any work within the scope of the Theological University’s activities, unless expressly permitted.
  3. Unauthorized collaboration  : working with any person on any project within the scope of the Theological University’s activities unless expressly permitted.
  4. Fraud in contract  : Making payments to attend a Theological University course or to work within the scope of a Theological University activity, engaging in trade, or having another person create employment for you.
  5. Impersonation  : completing work on any Theological University activity (including but not limited to exams, assessments, and learning activities) while logged in as another user, or enabling another user to complete work on a Theological University activity while logged in on your behalf; otherwise, misrepresenting the authorship of work submitted to the Theological University.
  6. Unauthorized sharing of resources  : making any information or solutions related to assignments, quizzes, exams, projects, and other assessments available to others (except where an assessment explicitly permits the sharing of solutions). This includes solutions written by you or other students, solutions from external sources, or solutions provided by course staff or others.
  7. Fraud  : unless otherwise stated, any misrepresentation regarding the circumstances under which the work was carried out within the scope of authorship or activity of the Theological University, or the falsification of any evidence supporting any claim of mitigating circumstances.
  8. Other  : other conduct that gives you or another person an unfair advantage, or any activity within the scope of the Theological University’s work performance that attempts to dishonestly improve your results or to improve or harm the results of others.

Results for Non-Grade Products 

The Theological University will determine the appropriate sanctions based on the type of abuse, the severity of the behavior, the risks of the assessment, and the user’s previous history of abuse.

No refunds will be issued for any corrective action taken regarding such violations   . Violations of the Code of Honor will be determined entirely at the discretion of the Theological University and its partners. If a violation of these Codes of Honor is found, you will be informed and will be briefed on the appropriate action to be taken as a result of the violation.

Results Regarding Degree Products: 
Results regarding Degree, Master’s and University Certificate Programs are entirely at the discretion of the content provider.
